The Christian Democrat deputy, Gabriel silver, will seek a law to make the vaccine against covid-19 mandatory in our country, seeking to halt the advance of the pandemic.
The legislator will present a bill on Tuesday to make vaccination against the new coronavirus mandatory “Since the only way to achieve effective immunization throughout Chile is for all the country’s inhabitants to receive immunization against this pandemic that has claimed almost 20 thousand deaths”.
Deputy Silber recalled that “the Health Code, in its article 33 already establishes the obligation to vaccinate against some diseases, precisely due to its high transmission rate and risk of mortality. Both conditions are given for covid 19, and following the same logic, it is necessary to incorporate vaccination against this disease, with the exceptions that the same code indicates “.
“We must also remember that since 1978, Chile has had a National Immunization Program, which includes mandatory vaccines against Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, Hexavalent and Pneumococcal vaccine that protects against Hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, invasive diseases H. influenzae type (Hib) and poliomyillitis, which have helped prevent and eradicate many diseases and decreased infant mortality ”.
“For this reason, we believe that it is important that, as with the other mandatory immunizations, Covid is included in this list of mandatory vaccines”
Deputy Silber added that “the President of the Republic has the power to establish this mandatory vaccination against covid-19, but since he does not do so, it is necessary to modify the Health Code to establish this obligation.”
“In addition, it must be considered that in a short time the Cinovac vaccine from China will be available, of which 5 million doses will arrive and as of March 1, 5 million more, which has a much less complex management than that of Pfizer and that it could begin to inoculate quickly ”.
