The Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Julio Leiva, tested positive this Wednesday to the PCR test for covid-19, after which he is fulfilling his functions from his home and electronically.

“As established in the health protocols, the traceability of contacts maintained by Admiral Leiva was carried out, identifying them and initiating the corresponding notification process,” the Navy reported.

Leiva was on his way to a Service Commission for the South zone in Puerto Montt, but the PCR test prior to that activity was positive,
so he finally did not travel and stayed at his home in Viña del Mar.

“The Commander-in-Chief of the Navy is asymptomatic and in good health, and fulfilling his functions with the modality of teleworking from his home in the city of Viña del Mar,” the statement added.

The result of the exam is given 4 days after having participated in the commemoration ceremony of the Army Glories, where he shared a place with the highest authorities of the country, sitting between the general director of the Carabineros, Mario Rosas, and the comptroller Jorge Bermúdez .
