The American comedian Jerry Stiller, father of fellow actor Ben Stiller, passed away at the age of 92 years.

It was her son who confirmed the news through social networks and announced that his father died of natural causes.

“I am sad to announce that my father, Jerry Stiller, has died of natural causes. He was a great father and grandfather, and a dedicated husband to his wife Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. I love you Dad,” Stiller tweeted.

Born in New York in 1927, Stiller starred in a comic alliance with his wife for many years Anne Meara, who passed away in 2015.

Among her roles were “Arthur Spooner” in the television comedy “The King of Queens” and roles with her son Ben in various movie comedies, including “Zoolander”, “Zoolander 2” and “The Heartbreak Kid”. He also starred in both the original 1988 film “Hairspray” and the musical adaptation that followed in 2007.

For many, however, it will be best remembered as Jason Alexander’s on-screen father in “Seinfeld”, a role he played for six years. His role as the volatile and gloomy “Frank Costanza”, “George’s” dad, saw him nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1997.
