Colo Colo defeated Cobresal 1-2 in El Salvador, in a hard commitment, and got his first win in the 2021 National Championship, showing a clear improvement in relation to his performance of the previous season.
The “albos” had an overwhelming start in this commitment, with several arrivals, and opening the account in the 15 minutes, with a great right hand from Iván Morales, who from outside the area took out a missile to beat goalkeeper Leandro Requena.
After several more chances, including a header from Bryan Soto to the crossbar, came the penalty in favor of “Cacique” for an infraction to Marcos Bolados, which was important in the first fraction (39 ‘).
Morales immediately took the ball with a lot of personality and defined in a great way to the left of the rival goal, sending goalkeeper Requena to the other side, and venting, after disciplinary problems during 2020 and the constant demand from coach Gustavo Quinteros for a center forward to the leadership.
In the second half, Gustavo Huerta moved the board in the premises and made the refforts Cristian Maidana, Brayan Hurtado and Iván Smith, modifications that gave offensive shape to the team and, better still, some clear opportunities.
Quinteros tried to react with some other substitutions, such as Williams Alarcón in the half, and as many in attack, but the onslaught “mining” was such that in the 73 ‘came Hurtado’s discount, which made his team go with everything in search of the tie.
However, defensive solidity returned to Macul’s cast and although with more complications in the first stage, they managed to maintain the meager difference, with Matías Zaldivia as a banner, and seal three very valuable points, which prematurely placed him at the top of the standings.
