The Conmebol put the batteries in the matter of Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. The governing body of continental football approved a series of changes in the regulations, in order to adapt to the new health requirements.

But it was not the only thing. The last session also established modifications for the rules on player substitutions and replacements in the bona fide lists, that is, in the registration payrolls that were made for the cups.

The biggest innovation is in the possibility of adding five new players to the rosters when football resumes, that is, when the group stage takes place again., which was suspended before the third date begins.

Under this provision, teams may replace five of their footballers before soccer returns. Then there will be five changes before the round of 16 begins, and three before the start of the quarterfinals and semifinals.

In this way, the teams will be able to include up to 16 new players in their rosters during the Copa Libertadores, good news for Universidad Católica and Colo Colo, the two Chilean representatives who are still alive in the continental competition..

Without going any further, the interim coach of Colo Colo, Gualberto Jara, had already hinted at the need to add a new defender to the team for the second half, a circumstance that will now be endorsed by Conmebol.

In the case of the Copa Sudamericana, Conmebol approved five changes for the dispute of the second round of the tournament, instead of the three that had been determined, with a permitted total of 14 substitutions until the dispute for the final.

In this tournament, which has already fully contested its first round, the four Chilean representatives are enrolled in the second round: Audax Italiano, Unión La Calera, Huachipato and Coquimbo Unido.
