This morning, and through a meeting by Zoom, the College of Midwives and Midwives of Chile spoke about the defective batch of contraceptive pills brand “Anulette CD” – fact already alerted by the Institute of Public Health (ISP) – and requested that women who have this product from the affected series, go as soon as possible to the primary care office or private consultation, for a midwifery professional to prescribe a new similar method.

It should be noted that the affected contraceptives correspond to the blister format with 28 tablets of the B20034A series, with an expiration date of 01/2022.

“Do not simply replace them with barrier methods like the male or female condom, because it is not enough to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. They must ask for a new recipe, ”said the president of the College of Midwives and Midwives of Chile, Anita Román.

In this line, Romanian indicated that “we have reached out to regional councils to see what we can do to address this issue. During this pandemic, we made a huge effort so that this sexual and reproductive health care was not discontinued, and therefore there are many women who today have doses of this pill for 3 and 6 months at home, and that if they take them it can be totally ineffective to avoid pregnancy ”.

Regarding the International Day of Matronería, which is commemorated tomorrow, Monday 31, they announced that they will carry out a virtual act at 7:00 p.m., where the emphasis will be to pay tribute to the 33 victims of femicide that the country registers this year, as well as advocate to end abuse and violence against women.

“We are going to demand effective and real actions from the Chilean State to put an end to unusual violence that has affected women and has led to 33 femicides so far. Today many women are in a state of permanent violence, and we know it, we live it, we are the front line and containment of them, of help and guidance, but that is not enough. This is a role that we play very important and that many times is not adequately relieved, “said the president of the College of Midwives.
