China stopped imports from a Chilean seafood producer as a precautionary measure, after detecting the presence of covid-19 in some of the company’s packaging, particularly frozen crab.

According to the American outlet Bloomberg, a nucleic acid test on the packaging of a batch of frozen crab returned positive results, the General Administration of Customs said in a statement on its website on Saturday.

For this reason, it was decided to suspend Pesquera Isla Del Rey’s import applications for at least one week.

For fear of an outbreak in the country, China has carried out tests to find the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen in imported food and packaging, which has even led to measures such as suspending imports.
