Chilevisión analyzes actions after appearing a reference to Pasapalabra in the electoral strip
During the electoral strip that began this noon, a reference to the popular program appeared “Pass word”, sparking controversy.
It was in the middle of the propaganda of National renewal to call to vote in favor of the “Mixed Convention” option in the plebiscite of October 25, when an imitation of the game was seen “The Rosco”, characteristic of the Chilevisión space.
According to La Tercera, Chilevisión is analyzing with its legal department to take action for the use of the program’s image without authorization.
Sources within the private channel told BioBioChile that the matter is being reviewed as it is a subject of image use and copyright.
Let’s remember that “Pasapalabra” is a British format that was born with the Alphabet Game program. This has been sold and reproduced in many countries, including ours, so the image rights would belong to the English production company that created it.
In this context, Chilevisión could even go as far as the National Television Council (CNTV) to determine if the regulations are being complied with, although the regulator would have indicated to LT that they would not have the powers to supervise the electoral strip.
Meanwhile, the La Botica agency -which was in charge of RN’s proposal- assured the newspaper that they were surprised by the controversy and affirmed that the reference was not identical, that nowhere did it mention the name of the program and that rather it was a kind of “homage to a beloved space”, arguing that a vote was not being called with that particular scene, only presenting the part of the strip corresponding to the political party.
