This Thursday, December 24, at 06:42 in the morning, the first shipment of 10,000 doses of Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine arrived at the Santiago Airport, from Belgium.
It is a commercial flight of the LATAM airline, which brought passengers, so the passengers disembarked first and then the plane lowered the cargo to take it to Group 10 of the FACH, in the middle of a strong police and military security operation to disembark the merchandise.

At the scene, the President inspected the arrival process of the vaccines. A Carabineros helicopter took the cargo and took it to the National Stadium to deliver it immediately to the distribution center located in the Rodrigo de Araya sector.
Later, at a time and place to be defined in accordance with the management and safe distribution protocols, the President will also accompany the first people who will receive the vaccines.
In this way, as announced during Wednesday, the shipment is part of the 20 thousand doses committed by the laboratory. This morning the first one arrived. Meanwhile, the next installment would take place next week.
In total, Chile has a contract with Pfizer-BioNTech for the acquisition of 10 million doses.
The first arrival comes from Belgium with 2 boxes of 5,000 doses each. Each box measures 40x40x56cm, weighs 36 kilos and contains 23 kilos of dry ice. They have technology that controls the temperature, ensures the quality of the vaccine and its georeferencing in the headquarters (United States or Belgium).
