The Ministry of Health reported that in the last 24 hours 7,084 cases were registered, surpassing the barrier of 7,000 daily infections for the first time since the pandemic began in our country.
The maximum peak recorded in Chile was 6,938 infections and was recorded on June 14, 2020.
With the 7,084 new cases, a total of 925,089 infections have been reached since the pandemic began in the country and, of these, 37,048 remain in the active stage of the virus.
The head of Health, Enrique Paris, pointed out that the variation in confirmed cases is + 14% in the last seven days: “The growth of infections continues and we have not denied that, we admit it“, He said.
On the last day, 76,275 PCR tests were carried out, a new test record, with a positivity at the national level of 9.08% and in the Metropolitan Region of 8%.
In addition, they signed up 93 dead in the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS), thus totaling 22,180 deaths in the country.

Only four regions decreased the number of cases in the last week and three in the last 14 days, highlighting the situation in the Magallanes Region, which decreased by 26% the cases in the last seven days. Along these lines, the regions that reported the most cases this day were Metropolitana (2,216), Biobío (970), Valparaíso (695), Araucanía (664) and Maule (471).

Regarding those hospitalized, there are currently 2,227 patients in intensive care units, of which 1,931 are supported by mechanical ventilation and there are only 198 critical beds.
