Chile could very soon approve a new vaccine against covid-19 to later be used in the country.
As reported by Reuters, the company AstraZeneca It has already delivered all the “key” paperwork to the ISP for its vaccine to be approved and applied in Chile.
It would be the second vaccine against this virus to be used in our country after the one from Pfizer-BionTech was started to be applied last week.
The undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Rodrigo Yáñez, said in an interview with Reuters that AstraZeneca has already delivered all the necessary documents to begin its review.
However, the ISP indicated that they have not yet formally requested its approval.
In this sense, Chile committed to the purchase of 14.4 million doses of this vaccine. By comparison, the deal with Pfizer-BionTech is 10 million doses.
Yañez also said that if everything goes well and an international agency approves the AstraZeneca vaccine, its use in Chile could be carried out very quickly.
“If the UK health authority, the European Medicines Agency or the FDA approve (the vaccine), which will most likely occur between January and February, approval for use in Chile could be in weeks or even days,” he said. to the mentioned medium.
