With two carabinieri run over, a chase of a stolen vehicle ended that spread through several communes of the capital, during the morning hours of this Wednesday.

According to General Jean Camus, head of the Santiago East Zone of the Carabineros, after detecting that a car had a valid order for theft in the Maipú commune, a persecution began in the San Ramón, La Cisterna, Cerrillos and San Miguel communes. .

The operation, which included the deployment of a Carabineros helicopter, ended on Route 5, near Salesianos, San Miguel commune.

“This vehicle is stopped in the San Miguel sector with the help of an institutional helicopter, but unfortunately within this procedure, at the time of arrest, the vehicle hits two off-road vehicles of the institution and the police are injured,” said the General Camus.

The two police officers who were injured were taken to the Carabineros Hospital in the same helicopter that participated in the pursuit.

Meanwhile, the person who was driving the vehicle with order for theft was arrested for the crime of reception. The car, which had been stolen on Tuesday in the Quinta Normal commune, was recovered.
