Charles Aránguiz consolidated his remarkable career after being chosen captain of Bayer Leverkusen.

In an interview with Las Últimas Noticias, the Chilean midfielder referred to his new work as leader in the aspirin team and took the opportunity to harangue Universidad de Chile before the Superclásico against Colo Colo.

“It is a great responsibility to be the captain of the team. I am very grateful for the appointment, but that is not why I am going to change my way of being or the fumes will rise to my head,” began the “Prince”.

Aránguiz explained that the decision came after Lars Bender, the previous captain, surrendered the jineta after losing continuity due to injuries. “I also belong to a kind of commission that looks at prizes, fines and various things. In that group we were Lars, Kevin Volland and Kai Havertz. And since they both left the team, I was left alone in the commission and they appointed me captain” added the native of Puente Alto.

“If they chose me it is because I am doing things well on and off the court. I will continue to be the same person,” he added.

On the other hand, the national backed the U before his clash against the Cacique this Sunday: “Regardless of the rival, I always want the U to win. Of course I will be attentive (to the game) and wishing the best. Also, there is my friend Osvaldo González and also Matías Rodríguez. They are the ones that remain since I played at U. I have a lot of affection for them. All the more reason I am going to support them.
