Chaos in Maipú: supporters of Cathy Barriga prevent the activity of councilors seeking her removal

A chaotic situation occurred in Maipú. In the square of said commune, the six councilors seeking the removal of mayor Cathy Barriga could not carry out an activity they had planned, since it was interrupted by adherents of the communal chief.

The supporters of Barriga stormed with shouts and banners in what was to be a press point by the councilors who accuse the dismissal of the mayor for “notable neglect of duties.”

Through a video posted on Facebook, Councilor Ariel Ramos showed part of the chaos that occurred in Plaza Maipú after the emergence of Barriga’s adherents, who verbally confronted neighbors who support the motion of the councilors.

“We wanted to do a broad exercise, to make known what are the details of the more than 20 causes that we have presented to the Regional Electoral Court to request the removal of the mayor. Unfortunately, people coordinated from the municipality arrived so that they would not let us do the activity” Ramos said in his video.

It should be remembered that six of the ten councilors of Maipú seek the removal of Barriga. They are: Marcela Silva (PS), Pedro Delgadillo (independent), Erto Pantoja (independent), Gonzalo Ponce (Green Ecologist), Abraham Donoso (DC) and Ariel Ramos (PC).
