Carabineros de Chile made this Monday morning a balance on the operations carried out by the institution during the last week, highlighting the great seizure of weapons and tons of drugs, especially high-purity cocaine.
According to the balance sheet, 1,325 kilos of different drugs were seized last week, highlighting an operation where they found 600 kilograms of high purity cocaine, which mixed with other substances can increase its mass.
These seizures add to the 13,838 kilos of drugs that have been seized in the last year.
In addition, it was highlighted that in the last week 44 high-caliber firearms were seized, those belonging to organized crime gangs, reaching a total of 2,620 weapons recovered during the course of 2020.
In the same vein, they indicated that 8 gangs were dismantled or some of their members were detained during the last seven days, while during 2020 the figure was 936.
Regarding the situation of the pandemic, the institution indicated that they have detected 187 mass meetings in the year, 116 of them, clandestine parties, with 1,829 detainees and 4,531 participations. It should be noted that in the last week 194 people were arrested for this type of incident.
Regarding the end of the year, Carabineros indicated that 4,825 officials will work to carry out different controls, especially in areas with restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic, so there will be five controls at the exit of Santiago and sanitary cordons in Valparaíso and Greater Concepción .
