After more than an hour and a half of taking a new occupation of the statue of General Manuel Baquedano in Plaza Italia, Carabineros dissolved the demonstration of around 500 people who were stationed in that place in the center of Santiago.
As confirmed by Radio Bío Bío, the police attacked the place with water carts and tear gas, with which the protesters moved away from the Army monument and ended the protest.
During the afternoon
Although at the beginning of the demonstration during the afternoon of this Friday in the center of Santiago, at around 6:00 p.m., Carabineros remained for a couple of hours protecting the monument to General Manuel Baquedano, at the end, after 8:00 p.m., the police officers retreated to the El Salvador Metro station.
As they were leaving the scene, the vehicles of the uniformed men were attacked by protesters with Molotov cocktails.
After that action, the group of people once again took the statue of General Manuel Baquedano, as they were left without uniformed surveillance of the initial cordon.
According to police sources, it was about 500 protesters that were posted in the place.
