The chief of the Western Metropolitan Zone of the Carabineros, General Enrique Monrás, together with his driver, managed to thwart a vehicle in Quilicura, arresting two subjects after confronting them with his service weapon.

Colonel Sergio Cornejo, head of the Carabineros Criminalistics Laboratory, reported that Monrás “was moving in the direction of the Center of Santiago, being on duty and they noticed a robbery that was being committed to a vehicle, apparently by four individuals.”

As explained by Colonel Cornejo, his superior intervened against the flagrant crime. “These individuals were apparently carrying weapons, which could be firearms, for which there is an exchange of shots. There is a persecution and two of the individuals are finally arrested”, Stated the head of Labocar.

“He and his companion point out that they had fired shots. We are precisely verifying, assessing the site of the event, the vehicles, in order to establish ballistic trajectories, “he added.

The two detainees abandoned the vehicle they were using and tried to escape on foot. One of them would have been hit by one of the fired projectiles and would have suffered injuries. He was transferred to a health center.

Expertise is being carried out on the weapons that were used by the subjects. In addition, two vehicles were seized. Inside one of them, various species were found that are presumed to have been stolen in a previous crime.
