The General Director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yanez, addressed this Saturday the differences in the police procedures adopted as a result of the clandestine parties registered in Cachagua and Ñuñoa, where the first ended with one part and no detainees, while in Ñuñoa 78 people were arrested.
“I am going to put the focus where it belongs. Beyond analyzing the procedures or what was done or not done by the police (…) I want to tell you that the point must be put in people who are irresponsible. That despite the regulations, instructions and recommendations of the authority, they persist in making these traps, where they congregate at these festivals that put the health of all Chileans at risk. Let’s worry about that, not about the details, ”Yañez replied to the press.
The uniformed police chief indicated that “we will be where people call us, we will adopt the corresponding procedures and where we find people (…) we will proceed in the same way, stopping when there are people to stop and notifying where only those responsible for the place are “.
It was the complaint of the Valparaíso Intendancy that made it clear that the Carabineros had gone to the premises where the Cachagua clandestine party took place, carrying out an offense for annoying noise against the accused – leaving him summoned to the Local Police Court of Zapallar – and then they withdrew from the place, without taking detainees.
“Sanitary traps”
Yáñez’s words are given in the context of the launch of the Safe Summer Plan, which implies a reinforcement of the police force in the country’s spas.
The activity was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, and the Undersecretary for Crime Prevention, Katherine Martorell.
Delgado said that “it has been a special year, in which we have had to modify behavior, especially social activities, and summer was always a cause for concern, because we knew that people would want a break. It was a very tough 2020 and facing a summer with greater mobility we knew it would be a tremendous challenge ”.
“We call on self-care, to be aware of acts, sometimes quite reckless. We have seen how parties and reels are transformed into sanitary traps. In that context, the increased police presence helps. That alone is not enough, you have to add wills that have to be from the authorities, but also through each of the people who are going to take a break, with the corresponding permits and measures. Their responsibility or irresponsibility can mark the personal future and those of their environment “, said the Interior Minister.
The former mayor commented that “we know what happens when there is a party, the ramification of the epidemic when the resguardos are not taken. Please, responsibility. Carabineros is complying with this plan in a difficult season. We ask people to comply. It is not an easy summer, we ask to make this summer a safe one and fulfill the objective of having a well-deserved rest, that it does not become an undeserved contagion ”.
“Summer should be a place of rest in the context of a pandemic. Carabineros will contribute in that line, “said Delgado, emphasizing that” there are no VIP or second-rate reels, we are going to persecute them all equally. “
A crime
Martorell, meanwhile, stressed that the occurrence of these clandestine parties are framed within “a crime, because people are infected and die, in some cases, that is why when this happens we are facing a flagrant crime and the police must act . This is what happened yesterday in Las Condes and Ñuñoa ”.
“The organizers have in the Penal Code more custodial penalties than the assistants. In addition, remember that all those who participate are subject to sanitary summaries, which goes beyond deprivation of liberty, with fines that can exceed 50 million pesos. And they are not exclusive. Because many may think that they pay a fine and voila. But no, because it is a crime ”, deepened the undersecretary.
