Police officers detained two individuals with firearms in the Macul district who would be part of a gang that operates by posing as members of the Investigative Police.
The arrest took place while personnel from the Carabineros off-road motorcycle service carried out inspections for compliance with the total sanitary quarantine in the commune.
Under this framework, at the intersection of Avenida Macul with Víctor Domingo Silva, two subjects in a BMW car, upon confirming the police presence, flee to the east, arriving at the intersection of Diego Dublé Urrutia with Luis Durán, where they are apprehended.
Inside the vehicle there were firearms, as well as a wife and clothing with which it is presumed that they pretended to be PDI officials.
Major Hernán Casas-Cordero Díaz, commissioner of the 46th Macul Police Station, reported that staff of the institution while conducting a preventive patrol in the commune noticed a vehicle “which was maintained with two occupants inside in a suspicious attitude “
“Upon noticing the presence of the Carabineros, they began to flee, which is why a follow-up of this vehicle began, and the arrest of both individuals who kept a handcrafted shotgun-type weapon inside the cell phone as well as a blank pistol,” he added.
In addition, Macul is under quarantine and the detainees did not have permission to move.
The elder explained that the investigation is being carried out in order to establish whether the detainees are related to the complaints received regarding the presence of a gang posing as members of the Investigative Police in the sector.
Both detainees are of legal age and have a criminal record for previous crimes.
