With water launchers and tear gas, personnel from the Carabineros Public Order Control Prefecture deployed this Thursday afternoon at the Alameda Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, in the center of Santiago, due to incidents that were recorded during demonstrations in the area framed in commemoration of Human Rights Day.
The Ministry of Transport reported after 6:00 p.m. that a group of people interrupted the traffic of the main avenue of the capital, to the east, at the height of Ricardo Cumming. In the place, a march was held in favor of the detained, convicted and in preventive detention, after the protests of the so-called social outbreak of October 18, 2019.
The circulation of vehicles was diverted by Avenida España.
Metro de Santiago, meanwhile, reported the closure of the República station on Line 1, due to disorders in the outskirts. The measure was also ordered for La Moneda station, both without stopping trains.
