This Friday the candidates for governors and mayors since Metropolitan region launched their candidacies thinking about primary to be held on November 29.
The first was Pablo Zalaquett, former mayor of Santiago and La Florida who will now seek to lead the Vitacura commune.
“I want a more open, closer municipality that integrates neighbors in the decisions to be made. For this, I am working around 5 priority action axes, with a cross-cutting axis of smart city: security, entrepreneurship, education and health, sustainability and the elderly ”, said the UDI activist.
Zalaquett will compete with the RN Max del Real, who also presented his candidacy together with Consuelo Alvial from his own party, who goes for Lo Barnechea.
Del Real, current councilor and who goes with the support of the current mayor Raul Torrealba, invited the neighbors to participate in the primaries. “We fully trust that it will be the best decision, they will value the work we have done,” he said.
For his part, Alvial will compete with the current mayor UDI Christopher Lira. She is running as the successor to the current mayor Felipe Guevara, who resigned as mayor and was replaced by Lira.
Alvial thanked RN for its support in the candidacy and assured that he will put his talents at the service of the community.
Governors
Meanwhile, candidacies for the regional governors’ primaries were also launched. In the pact Constituent Unit, the candidates are Helia Molina (PPD), Álvaro Erazo (PS) and Claudio Orrego (DC).

Molina, meanwhile, through a statement stated that “we want to govern to build a tremendous region of 52 communes, in a living space that ensures fundamental rights, that allows people to build solutions together with municipal and regional authorities, and where its inhabitants have a fundamental role ”.
For his part, Erazo pointed out that “for the first time in the history of Chile, we have the possibility of electing regional governors throughout our country (…) We want a democratic space, of management, of territorial control, with citizen participation ”.
Meanwhile, the Wide Front He also presented his candidates: Karina Oliva (Common), María José Fulfilled (Liberal Party) and Sebastian Depolo (Democratic Revolution). This was done in an activity with Beatriz Sánchez.
Oliva pointed out that the challenge is to build a “feminist city”, facing the inequalities that exist in the region. He added that “the objective is to hear what are the different views and actions that we have to do to change the Metropolitan region and rebuild a city of rights, fearless, courageous, innovative and green.”
For its part, Cumplido also aimed to combat inequality that exists in the capital, building a city where everyone participates in the construction of public policies and territories.
Finally, Depolo declared that the candidacies of the Frente Amplio represent a transformative and change project, “not the same as always.” “We want to change things and open avenues to build a more just nation,” he said.
Primary in Providencia?
In the activity of the Frente Amplio, the president of Comunes, Jorge Ramírez, indicated that the possibility of holding a conventional primary to elect an opposition candidate for mayor of Providence, commune that is not contemplated for the process of November 29.
Ramírez indicated that his party will have a candidate if this primary takes place and added that, with the result of the plebiscite, people expressed their desire to participate in political decision-making.
