A flight from Calama had to be diverted to the Copiapó airport, in the Atacama region, after the warning of a explosive device by one of the passengers.
After a GOPE operation and the deployment of all emergency teams, it was reported that the event was about “a joke”.
The event occurred during the morning of this Wednesday, when the Latam flight 147 who was traveling to Santiago, was forced to disembark his passengers after a bomb complaint.
The head of the Atacama Desert Aerodrome, Winston Rowlands, assured that the passengers informed the cabin personnel of the situation, so they proceeded to activate the necessary protocols.
“It was communicated to the police, GOPE personnel, Onemi and all the necessary organizations,” said Rowlands, adding that the passengers re-board the plane, once the situation was controlled.
Regarding the passenger who caused the emergency, was arrested and he will be brought before a court to be tried.
