The Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, valued this Saturday that the Lower House approved the modifications made by the Mixed Commission to the Budget 2021, which will now be left to the Senate.
On the treasury for next year, the head of the fiscal coffers said that “It is an extraordinary budget” with a focus on recovery.
Briones commented that the amounts involved make up the “highest budget we have had in recent times, together with what we have spent in 2020”, since this year they had to be made “Exceptional actions” due to the crisis emanating from the pandemic.
The minister thanked the figures that were approved to, for example, subsidize employment, public works, health and culture.
Finally, he thanked both the opposition and the ruling party for working in favor of reaching agreements regarding the 2021 Budget.
“If we are able to agree on the most important Law of the year, how can we not be able to agree on other matters?”, he expressed.

This Saturday the Mixed Commission, after lengthy negotiations, unanimously approved a series of amendments to nine points of the 2021 Budget.
Therefore, the details were voted in the Chamber of the Chamber of Deputies and now they remain in the hands of the Senate.
The modifications agreed for the 2021 Budget included the increase in baseline per capita to $ 8,000 in Primary Health, “Which means a greater public investment of $ 113,000 million destined to improve the attention to the population and to comply with the GES guarantees”.
In the instance, the reversal of the part of the fall in baseline contributions to CRUCH Universities at $ 32,000 million.
“Additionally, for 2021, the use of the accumulated surpluses of the University Credit Solidarity Fund (FSCU) is authorized in 35% to make up the deficit of the application of article 108 of the University Law and 25% to finance extraordinary expenses for the years 2020 -2021, product of the covid-19 fund ”, agreed the Commission.
This means access to FSCU resources of more than approximately $ 60 billion.
Other points agreed were the replacement of $ 67,000 million to the Ministry of Sciences and Innovation; and $ 18,000 million for the Ministry of Cultures.
For SMEs, meanwhile, resources will be increased by $ 3.9 billion intended for recovery.
These modifications that improve the 2021 Budget -with a greater emphasis on investment, science and innovation- “will allow progress towards a Chile that faces the pandemic, but also promotes economic recovery with more public investment but also with more investment in Innovation and Sciences” , the Commission pointed out.
