Brutal femicide of Colombian woman in Copiapó: cohabitant is accused

The Atacama Prosecutor’s Office and the PDI are investigating the femicide of a Colombian citizen at the hands of her partner of the same nationality, which occurred in the last hours in Copiapó. The suspect was intensely wanted by the police.

According to the information provided by the prosecution, the crime occurred in a camp in the upper sector of the capital of Atacama, inside the house occupied by the victim, Leidy Arboleda Riascos, along with her partner.

The chief prosecutor of Copiapó, Christian González, indicated that the couple had more than two years of relationship and six months of residence in Chile. For reasons that are being investigated, the subject murdered the woman with a stab wound in the clavicular area.

The Prosecutor’s Office and the PDI investigate

“The Prosecutor’s Office and the Homicide Brigade of the PDI are in full development of the investigative proceedings and we hope to be able to pass the person responsible for this crime to the detention control hearing this Monday and thus formalize it for the crime of consummated femicide,” he said Gonzalez.

For his part, the head (s) of the PDI Homicide Brigade, Commissioner Félix Vega, pointed out that “according to the first steps taken, the perpetrator of this act would be his partner, also of Colombian nationality.”
