A brutal case of femicide shakes Colombia in the last hours, after the disappearance of Yuly Patiño Pérez, who was seen alive for the last time on December 25 in Medellín.

From that day on, family and friends began an intense search, while preliminary versions suggested that the young cosmology student had met her ex-boyfriend.

When initially consulted, the subject indicated that the young woman had boarded a taxi and left, however with the passing of days the doubts began to be cleared with a series of facts.

The 30-year-old man tried to take his life by simulating a traffic accident, but when he failed, he turned himself in to the Prosecutor’s Office where he confessed to the murder of Yuli Patiño and that he had thrown his body into the Medellín river.

After the confession, the suspect was sent to a temporary detention center where hours later and while an arrest warrant was being processed against him, he finally took his own life after inflicting several injuries with a knife.

For now, the police and rescue teams continue to search for the young woman’s body in the Medellín River, while in the last hours family and friends held a candlelight on one of the bridges that passes over the river in the north of Medellín.
