In the last hours the Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, was invited to the Zero Tolerance program, where he addressed a series of contingency issues.

In the program that is transmitted by CNN Chile, he was consulted about the return to face-to-face classes.

Briones said that to reopen the educational facilities they will need political agreements; and raised that it is even more urgent for kindergartens to operate againSince there are parents who need to return to their jobs and have no one to leave their children with.

“The need is to open the gardens, but with safeguards. We need country consensus to reopen schools. This can be done ”, he commented.

The Secretary of State added that around this issue “there is a lot of resistance.”

“There are those who oppose it because yes, but it is not sustainable. Let’s think about the damage we are doing to the little ones ”, he added.

Plebiscite

In the aforementioned television program, Briones also referred to the October plebiscite and the polarization of positions in this regard. Expressed that both are legitimate from a democratic perspective.

“When you have to choose between two options, postures tend to be exacerbated to try to mark the core (…). I prefer to stay with the background of the story, and that is both options are valid, legitimate and democratic “, he indicated.

Finally, he stated that it is necessary to “de-dramatize” the process and “de-dramatize whoever wins the Approval.”

“I trust in the Chilean capacity for dialogue. (…) It must be understood that this process is not carried out in no man’s land, it has an institutional mechanism faithful to a tradition, ”concluded the head of the fiscal coffers.
