During this month of December, there are several benefits that the Government will deliver to citizens, in addition to the Christmas bonuses that the State provides by law to public employees and pensioners.
To help families cover typical expenses this month, such as Christmas and New Years, the Government announced a final Christmas benefit that will be a supplement to the Emergency Family Income (IFE) that was granted this year.
Its about Covid Christmas bonus, a special contribution for this date and that will be delivered to all those who received the sixth installment of the IFE.
These are the Christmas benefits that you can collect this month:
Covid Christmas Bonus
This benefit will begin to be paid on December 21 and will have an approximate reach of 3.4 million households in the country.
It is given to all who received the last IFE and consists of two different amounts:
- $ 25,000 per household member.
- $ 55,000 per household member (residents in quarantined communes).
Bonus pensioners
According to information from the IPS, the base amount of the Christmas bonus for this year is $ 23,081, and will only be paid to those people who are retired at the November 30, 2020.
In the case of IPS, the bonus It is included in the December payment settlement on the date each person is assigned their payment, but always before the 25th when Christmas is celebrated.
Public Sector Strenna
This Christmas contribution is stipulated in the Law for the vast majority of public sector workers, as well as its amounts, which each year are defined in the Budget Law.
During this month the amount that public employees should receive would be around $ 58,000 and $ 31,000, according to the salary brackets of each worker.
Strenna private sector
In the public sector there is no law that regulates the payment of the Christmas bonus, so the delivery of the benefit is subject to the will of the employer. However, there are at least three situations in which this benefit becomes a right for the worker and an obligation for the company.
- Acquired right: If the bonus was paid for several years on a regular basis, it becomes an acquired right of the workers, so the employer must deliver it on a mandatory basis.
- Collective agreement: If this payment and its amounts are agreed by collective agreement between workers and the company, the bonus must be paid.
- Individual contract: If a worker agrees to pay the Christmas bonus directly with his employer and this is stipulated in his contract.
