The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, compared this Sunday the measures of social isolation adopted by the states of his country to stop the advance of the coronavirus with the political, economic and social crisis that Venezuela is going through.
Bolsonaro, contrary to the quarantines, published a video on his social networks of an inspection of police officers on a bus in the state of Maranhao, in the northeast and the first state in the country to decree the total confinement of the population. In the registry, the police are seen asking people for the document that proves that they are going to their workplace, a requirement to leave home.
“The head of the family must stay home hungry with his family he said in relation to the measures that some state governors have implemented. Millions already feel what it is like to live in Venezuela ”.
On Saturday, the Brazilian president was seen riding a jet ski on Lake Paranoá, in Brasilia, according to photos and videos released by the Metrópoles news site.
In recent weeks, Bolsonaro has maintained his position of not complying with social distance and underestimating the scope of the virus, by participating in mass events, greeting supporters and even organizing a barbecue -although he clarified that he had said it as irony-, at the time in which the South American country passed the 10,000 positive cases.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, globally, Brazil is the eighth country in the world with the most infections, and the first in South America, with 156,061.
