The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, has announced the discovery of a gas “megafield” in the department of Chuquisaca, in the south of the country, as part of the explorations of YPFB and the Repsol, Shell and PAE consortium.

“Happily, we are not only going to spend the good holidays as a family, our Pachamama is giving us Bolivians a nice gift. Our Pachamama is giving us the discovery of a successful megafield ”, he said at a press conference.

Arce has detailed that the discovery has occurred in the Boicobo Sur-X1 well, located in the province of Luis Calvo, in Chuquisaca, with 1 TCF (one trillion cubic feet) which it has trusted to start exploding at the end of 2021.

“Everything points to the fact that, until the end of 2021, this well will already enter production and, therefore, it will be an important contribution to the entire hydrocarbon policy that we have for our country,” he highlighted, according to the ABI news agency.

The Bolivian president recalled that this project had a budget of 102 million dollars, of which 74 million dollars have been executed for the drilling works that have been carried out in an exploratory way.
