Parliamentarians of the area, and of different political colors, criticized the decision of the, until now, senator of the PPD FElipe Harboe from leaving office to compete as a candidate for the Constitutional Convention.
Arguing that the voters, in the Plebiscite of October 25, they asked for new and independent faces and not parliamentarians.
“Today is the time to be useful,” Senator Felipe Harboe said this weekend, through a statement, where he confirmed that he will seek to reach the Constitutional Convention representing the Ñuble region, therefore, his term in the Upper House will not end.
Decision that was criticized by deputy RN Leonidas Romero, who reiterated that the new Magna Carta will be drawn up “by the same old men.”
While the socialist deputy Gaston Saavedra said that, although it is within his right to run for the constituent, he does not respond to what the citizenship requested after October 18, 2019.
While the environmental deputy Félix González emphasized that new and independent faces are needed in the body that will be in charge of writing the new fundamental text.
These first days of January are defining for those who want to participate in the April elections, which could mean more resignations of authorities.
If Harboe’s exit from Congress materializes, Ñuble and part of the Bío Bío would be left without elected senators, after Víctor Pérez Varela also left office.
Who sounds strong and has the support of the president of the PPD -forfill the vacancy- is the deputy for the area, Loreto Carvajal, who when consulted by La Radio said that he has not yet officially discussed the issue but said he was available.
