The Democratic candidate for president of the United States, Joe biden, denounced this Sunday the harassment of one of his campaign buses by followers of the president Donald trump on a Texas highway, an incident investigated by the FBI.
A video posted on Twitter shows trucks surrounding and braking a Biden campaign bus, waving Trump flags.
The Democratic Party indicated that the bus, in which the candidate for Congress Wendy Davis was traveling, stopped its trip and canceled two planned events and a press conference after the incident, citing “security problems.”
Trump himself tweeted the video Saturday night, with the message “I love Texas.”
“We never saw anything like this, or at least we never had a president who thought it was a positive thing,” Biden told supporters in Philadelphia.
The Democratic candidate added that the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., made a video in which he encouraged his father’s followers to “continue like this” and to find where the running mate, Kamala Harris, is to receive her shape.
“We are much better than that,” Biden said.
The San Antonio FBI office is investigating what happened, he told AFP on Sunday.
The incident comes in a context of concern about possible cases of intimidation or post-election violence, in a highly polarized country.
Members of the Democratic Party in Floyd County, in the state of Georgia (southeast), decided to cancel a campaign event this Sunday after learning that “the presence of an important militia” was expected, due to the rally planned by Trump in the city of Rome, in that same state, at night.
