Between confirmed and probable: Minsal epidemiological report reports 17,075 deaths from Covid-19 in Chile

The Department of Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the Ministry of Health published the 15th Weekly Report of Deaths this Saturday in which, among confirmed and probable cases, 17,075 deaths related to Covid-19 in Chile are counted.

According to the report, as of Thursday, September 24, there were 12,591 deaths with confirmed PCR examination and 4,484 probable deaths, that is, waiting for confirmation or discard of the contagion.

Confirmed deaths revealed an increase of 337 more people than last week.

The document published by the Ministry of Health also reported that the communes with the highest mortality, adjusted for age and sex, in the last two weeks were Punta Arenas, Parral and Ovalle, with an adjusted rate of 12.01; 6.00 and 5.89, respectively.

The Metropolitan Region maintains the highest mortality rate, between confirmed and probable, with 76.69 deaths, followed by the Antofagasta Region with 65.29 and Tarapacá with 51.22.

Regarding infections, epidemiological report No. 54, also published by the Health portfolio, revealed that in Chile, up to September 24, 512,964 cases of Covid-19 have been registered (453,868 with laboratory confirmation and 59,096 probable) , with a rate of 2,636.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.

In detail, the highest accumulated incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, are found in the Magallanes Region (4349.0), the Metropolitan Region (3918.6) and the Tarapacá Region (3357.9).
