Authorities of government, of Carabinieri and Prosecutor’s office This afternoon they carried out an activity to provide details on the recovery of the car used during the fatal shooting that occurred last Tuesday in Maipú, which left a woman dead.
The white mobile was detected by the Central Highway after crossing a TAG gantry. This generated a persecution that ended in Pedro Aguirre Cerda, where the driver of the car was arrested.
It is the car used by individuals to get to the Maipú square and shooting pedestrians and street vendors, leaving one woman dead and four wounded.
The General Director of Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez, stressed that the location of the vehicle was achieved thanks to the technologies that the Undersecretary of Crime Prevention has deployed throughout the city.
In addition, he indicated that the detainee will go to detention control since he had a current order, but avoided referring to whether he was directly involved in the shooting.
Along with this, he stressed that during this Thursday the arrest of a person involved in the double homicide of two Colombian citizens, which also happened in Maipú.
For his part, the Interior Minister, Rodrigo Delgado, pointed out that “if someone thought they could reach the nerve center of such an important commune in Maipú (…) with weapons, shoot at that point and that I was going to go unpunishedI must tell you that they were absolutely wrong ”.
The Secretary of State stressed that the recovery of the car was achieved after the detection of a TAG gantry, which triggered a Carabineros procedure by air and land.
“In a matter of minutes, that vehicle could be intercepted,” said Delgado, who also avoided referring to the possible participation of the detainee in fact.
He added that the car had been stolen prior to the shooting, using the encerrona method.
Finally, the prosecutor who is investigating the event, Pablo Alonso, also spoke, who stressed that the discovery of the car is relevant for the Public Ministry, since various tests may be obtained to establish how the events occurred and who the perpetrators were.
