The students spoke of chaos and confusion when the shooting began.

“We were studying in our classrooms when suddenly we heard a burst of gunfire inside the university,” said Fraidoon Ahmadi, a 23-year-old student.

“Some university students fled. It is chaotic and the students are terrified, ”he added.

Ahmadi said he and several other students were besieged for more than two hours before being rescued.
