Mkrtumyan mat, Ambassador of Armenia in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru and Paraguay, based in Buenos Aires, related in an interview on the trans-Andean channel A24 her impressions regarding the war that broke out between her country and Azerbaijan.

“This attack was not a surprise to us. In July 2020, two months ago, we suffered another attack on the northwest border of Armenia. This attack was followed by warlike statements by the President, the Defense Minister and the Chancellor of Azerbaijan. It was not a surprise, but we did not expect it to be an attack of this scale ”, admitted.

Meanwhile, according to the Armenian embassy in a statement, there have been cases of obstruction of the normal work of the Armenian diplomatic service abroad and of the Armenian communities, “as well as the deliberate destruction of their personal and work assets, which have threatened the security of diplomatic personnel and community structures in various countries ”.

Faced with this war scenario, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia condemned the aggression of Azerbaijan against Artsaj, a de facto independent republic located in Transcaucasia, that several districts of Azerbaijan border with Armenia.

In the meantime, the UN and the United States called for a halt to attacks between the two parties.
