Argentine President Alberto Fernández announced early this Saturday that he tested positive for covid-19 in an antigen test he underwent after registering compatible symptoms.

“I wanted to tell you that at the end of today, after presenting a fever record of 37.3 and a slight headache, I performed an antigen test whose result was positive,” he reported through Twitter.

“I have contacted the people with whom I was meeting in the last 48 hours to assess if they constitute a close contact to do the isolation,” he added.

“What happened to me shows that we all have to take care of ourselves. I live taking care of myself and yet I tested positive. This shows that we all have to be alert and respect everything that is necessary to avoid contagion, “the President told Infobae.

According to the Clarín slogan, the trans-Andean head of state was the first Latin American president to be vaccinated. He received two doses of Sputnik V.
