Argentina registered this Monday a new daily record of deaths from covid-19 when posting 429 deaths, which brings the total number of fatalities to 13,482.
This is the highest figure since the pandemic hit the South American country, which has maintained containment measures since March 20, although with progressive relaxation by region.
The Ministry of Health reported that the total number of cases reached 640,134 of which 508,563 were recovered in this country with 44 million people.
The provinces with the highest number of cases are Buenos Aires, followed by the federal capital, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Mendoza.
In the city of Buenos Aires, despite being in second place in number of cases, infections have decreased to stand at 678 this Monday.
The Argentine capital begins this week a new stage of confinement with the authorization of gastronomic activity in restaurants with outdoor spaces and construction works in the final stage, among other activities.
Classes are still suspended at all educational levels.
According to the official report, the occupation in intensive care units is in the order of 60.3% nationwide, and rises to 65.5% in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires.
The government resolved on Friday to extend the activity restriction measures until October 11 while the evolution of infections is monitored.
Despite the high numbers, hundreds of people have demonstrated against the sanitary measures of the Alberto Fernández government, demanding the end of confinement in street protests without keeping a record of social distancing.
The claims collide with public requests for greater individual responsibility that health personnel, doctors and paramedics have asked the population, exhausted after six months of work, with some hospitals at the limit of their capacity.
