The ANFP, through a press release, made the Spanish Francis Cagigao official as the new National Sports Director, a position that will aim to “work on the design of a comprehensive policy for the development of the national teams.”

“One of its main functions will be to advise the Board of Directors of the FFCH on sports matters and to establish, together with the different technical bodies of all the categories of La Roja, a new development policy that will last over time,” the statement explained.

“The presence of a National Sports Director is something unprecedented for our football. Having a technical advisor who handles all aspects of selection, tactics, evaluation and sports policies will be very important to establish a line of work and a long-term policy to achieve the success of our teams, which is something we all want, “explained Pablo Milad, President of the Chilean Football Federation.

Cagigao, as explained by the ANFP, had to do with the additions to Arsenal of Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and even Alexis Sánchez and shared with the coaches Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta.
