Senator Alejandro Guillier proposed advancing the presidential elections, and specified that Chile “does not resist Sebastián Piñera for 16 more months.”
Given this proposal, businessman Andrónico LuksicHe said on his Twitter account that it is “a bad path for Chile that parliamentarians, elected in a democratic system that respects institutions and laws, today ask to advance presidential elections. Disproportionate proposal that seriously damages an institution that is already weakened! Time to build, not destroy! “

The first time that the parliamentarian raised this idea was last March, when he affirmed that advancing the elections -both presidential and parliamentary- is “the most reasonable thing” given the crisis that the country was experiencing.
But this did not stop here because the senator replied:
Senator, I agree on the need to address urgent Chilean problems with + efficiency. But it is dangerous to relativize continuity of democratic mandates won in ballot boxes. If it is x popular support, Congress is among the worst evaluated and not x that is asked to shorten its term! https://t.co/LVKnl1CFAw
