The Regional prosecutor of La Araucanía, Cristian Paredes, ordered this Thursday afternoon that a prosecutor -exclusively- is in charge of investigating the events that led to the murder of a PDI official during a procedure in the rural sector of Ercilla.
Likewise, Paredes specified that the operation in question yielded results, achieving the seizure of an indeterminate quantity of marijuana.
In that line, he added that other proceedings are still in progress to clarify who is behind the property of the plantation in question that was found.
The deceased officer corresponds to Inspector Luis Morales Balcazar, who belonged to the staff of the Iquique Tactical Reaction Team (ERTA), who made up the support operation of the Specialized Anti-Drug Brigade, which entered the rural area of Pidima.
Morales received a bullet impact in his head, dying product of the wound. Another of the officials found a mandibular fracture.
About 800 officials of the Investigative Police participated in the search operation. Radio Bío Bío sources point out that even the police contingent spent the night at the Angol stadium, so as not to raise suspicions about the operation.
