The scam was exposed when the presentation did not take place and after the Monticello executives contacted the representatives of the voice of “My heart Will go on”, the main theme of the movie Titanic, who were unaware of any relationship with the subject arrested yesterday.
Sub-inspector Mauricio Bravo, from the Metropolitan Economic Crimes Brigade, explained that the amount of the scam amounts to US $ 1,190,000.
“Yesterday, officers from the Metropolitan Economic Crimes Brigade, in compliance with an arrest warrant, managed to arrest the accused, who was a fugitive from justice. This is due to an investigation that was born in the Rancagua Economic Crimes Brigade, since the subject, representative of the agency ‘Colors’, would have signed a contract with Arena Monticello to bring the artist Celine Dion to Chile. The aforementioned contracts would have been signed abroad, but to date the presentation of the artist has never been finalized, and there is an economic loss of over 1,000 million pesos, money that has not been recovered, ”Bravo said.
The deputy commissioner added that “it is important to note that representatives of Arena Monticello traveled abroad and made direct contact with representatives of the artist and they also confirmed that the defendant in question never took any steps to bring the singer to Chile.”
Although the subject does not have a police record, the Public Ministry “irrefutably accredited” his participation in the scam, concluded Bravo.
