The Ministers of Agriculture, Antonio Walker; Labor, María José Zaldívar, and Health, Enrique Paris, made known to the agricultural unions a series of sanitary measures, framed in the Step by Step Labor plan, so that the harvest season is carried out safely.
“The harvest season starts in the next few days and agriculture generates a million jobs directly and another million indirectly. In addition, it exports about 18 billion dollars, we supply more than 190 markets around the world. Agriculture is a service that we have declared essential, so it has not stopped so that no Chilean lacks food and now the most difficult thing comes, the harvests of many perishable foods, which require many workers “, explained the minister of the branch, Antonio Walker.
He added that “that is why today we had a very good meeting with the Minister of Labor and the Minister of Health to see how we face the harvest that is coming. In that sense, I want to thank the ministries for coordinating when creating a single audit file so that dualities do not occur, and also a self-assessment file. All agricultural entrepreneurs are going to have a form to self-evaluate, something that when the Ministry of Labor or Health goes to supervise, all employers are prepared and complying with all labor and health regulations “.
Return and new hires
At the same time, María José Zaldívar explained that at the meeting they also informed the agricultural unions -various of its representatives were present by telematic means- “the Employment Subsidy, which has two lines, the one to return to work for people who had their contracts suspended, and the one to promote new hires.”
“The agriculture sector needs a large number of hiring, therefore, we have an opportunity there, that’s why we made this tool known, so that it may be used,” added the authority.
