The Local Prosecutor’s Office of Coyhaique formalized this Monday Cristian Fabián Díaz, 41, charged with four crimes, including rape with femicide. As described by prosecutor Luis Contreras at the hearing, Díaz acted with extreme violence against the 21-year-old victim.
The prosecutor explained that the defendant – a native of Comodoro Rivadavia – stabbed the victim 72 different parts of the body. “The antecedents released in the hearing, denote an aggressiveness of a sexual nature committed by the defendant to the detriment of the victim, where the numerous amount of wounds in various places of the body stand out,” explained the prosecutor Contreras.

Contreras also added that the PDI “through the Homicide and Robbery Brigade, (…) developed procedures to establish the existence of the crime. Detention

The detainee, in his statement to the police, recognizes the physical assaults and the use of a knife, but does not recognize the sexual assault against the young woman.
At the end of the hearing, Judge Cecilia Urbina Pinto agreed to the request of the Prosecutor’s Office and ordered the preventive detention of the accused, setting an investigation period of 6 months, where the proceedings were requested by the Local Prosecutor’s Office of Coyhaique to the Homicide Brigade. , Lacrim of the PDI and the Legal Medical Service.
