The North Central Prosecutor’s Office formalized a accused of committing two rapes in the Metropolitan region, who was left behind bars after not serving the alternative sentence that was given to him for other crimes.
The individual, a Colombian citizen whose face and name cannot be made known from the formalization hearing on by decision of the court, was arrested yesterday by the PDI Sex Crimes Brigade.
According to the accusation, the individual would have raped in February 2019 a 16 year old girl, which he would have drugged after offering her juice.
Then, in July, he was convicted of two crimes of robbery with intimidation, but he was given the alternative sentence of expulsion from the country with prohibition to enter for 10 years. However, he did not comply with it, as he quickly entered through a non-enabled step.
It was like that in October 2019 I would have committed a robbery with rape against a woman of legal age.
During the hearing, the North Central Prosecutor’s Office was going to request the preventive prison, but withdrew after it was determined that the individual will still serve sentences for robbery with intimidation after not respecting the expulsion from the country.
The decision was made by the 7th Guarantee Court of Santiago.
Marcelo Borbarán, Central North prosecutor, pointed out that the individual was formalized by rape and robbery with rape.
He added that for each crime of robbery with intimidation he received a sentence of 3 years and one day, for which will spend at least 6 years behind bars. That time is expected to increase, he said, if he is found guilty of the aforementioned sex crimes.
