Once again technology played a trick on the Chamber of Deputies. On this occasion giving an account of a relaxed dialogue between two UDI parliamentarians, Javier Macaya and Patricio Melero, about the recently assumed General Director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez.
It all happened when Melero gave his opinion to the room in the framework of the debate on the budget gloss of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism.
Once his speech was concluded, the President of the Chamber, Diego Paulsen, took the floor. But due to carelessness or oblivion, Melero did not realize that his microphone was still on, revealing Macaya’s opinion about the new uniformed police chief: “The General Director of the Carabineros is more left-handed than the chucha (sic),” he said. heard on the official broadcast of the session.
Faced with that, Melero limited himself to answering: “Yáñez? Ah yes ah. They have it as very good ”.
Macaya even revealed to his partner that he discussed the issue with former Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick. “I told Chadwick (…),” he said.
“The president of the UDI of San Fernando was a neighbor of him. And it is a family of the left, left, left, “added Macaya, who is a deputy for the O’Higgins Region.
“And this neighbor is the father of two pacos, expaco and he tells me ‘hueón, this hue … is very left wing (sic),” he closed.
Faced with which Melero replied: “Well, it can be good.”
It is not the first time that an open mic has played a trick in Congress. And it probably won’t be the last either.
After the controversy, Macaya apologized to Yáñez for his statements: “I have always supported the police. The terms I referred to were in a private conversation. I apologize. Family, ideas or any condition, they do not matter to direct such an important institution. Good luck and all the support for the new General Director Ricardo Yáñez ”, indicated the legislator.
