A group of people demonstrated this Sunday in Plaza Baquedano against the Government of President Sebastián Piñera and demanding the resignation of the Minister of Health, Jaime Mañalich, for his management during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The manifestation It was held at 10:00 am when a group of 50 people, equipped with glasses, masks and white overalls –and a meter away from each other– they tried to get to the Baquedano monument.
The spokesman for the demonstration explained that “we made a call when we saw that the Covid-19 entered the country powerful, we made a call for people to leave the streets, we succeeded. In a moment the people walked away, all the first lines of struggle went away and It was because of the call we made as a group of organizations for that“
“We have been since October 18 and we will continue on the streets every monday, everybody on fridays and in different communes doing demonstrations, “he added.
Protest was dispersed by the Carabineros Special Forces and five people were arrested.
An irresponsible act
The Government spokesperson, Karla Rubilar, in conversation with Channel 13, He criticized the demonstration, calling it irresponsible.
“One wonders if one is understanding what our country is experiencing. We are experiencing the greatest pandemic of the last 100 years, we are experiencing a moment in which it is essential that we focus each and every one one of our efforts to fight the coronavirus that can cost us many lives if we do it wrong“Rubilar pointed out.
