Journalists inadvertently “founded” protesters in Plaza Baquedano: they withdrew peacefully | National

A demonstration called this Sunday in Plaza Baquedano de Santiago ended early after being inadvertently “founded” by the press that gathered there to cover it, causing the maximum number of people to be exceeded.

It was 40 people who gathered on the esplanade of the Universidad de Chile Theater, next to Plaza Italia, who arrived fully covered in a white overalls, in addition to gloves and masks.

Under the slogan “Sanitize, organize, another way to fight”, the organizers told Radio Bio Bio that they will meet on Mondays and Fridays in the place respecting all the sanitary precautions, that is to say, respecting maintaining more than a meter of distance and with the participation of less than 50 people.

For the protesters, meeting like this is a way to continue the fight that began after October 18, and which today translates into demands such as the resignation of the Health Minister, Jaime Mañalich, in addition to demanding transparency from the government in the numbers of those infected.

However, the demonstration suffered an inadvertent “sabotage”, since when the press began to gather in the place to cover it, this exceeded the maximum of 50 people allowed by the health resolution, causing the advance of Special Forces Carabineros.

It should be noted that after issuing a first warning from the uniformed police through a loudspeaker, the protesters chose to withdraw completely peacefully, moving to Parque Bustamente.

This is the audio that accounts for the situation:
