Despite the confinement, many Japanese children go for walks on the streets, which contributes to the spread of the coronavirus.

Like many other countries, Japan is quarantined by the covid-19 pandemic, and if many adults find it very difficult both physically and psychologically to stay at home all the time, it is even harder for children.

To help children stay at home and be entertained, the association Japan Retro Game decided to give away a hundred classic consoles from Super Famicom, the Japanese version of Super Nintendo.

Any family with a child under the age of 16 can request a console along with classic games like ‘Donkey Kong Country’ and ‘Final Fantasy VI’, on the condition that it covers shipping costs. The association points out that, despite being over 20 years old, the consoles continue to work perfectly. The offer is open until April 27, and after this date the lucky ones will be chosen by lottery.

Currently in Japan the state of emergency is in force due to the pandemic, which has caused more than 12,000 cases of contagion in the country, according to the Johns Hopkins Institute.
