The UC Christus Health Network announced this Saturday that they will accept the Employment Protection Act, suspending contracts of 30% its workers, but maintaining the payment of contributions and insurance.

The above, they point out, is due to the drop in outpatient care after the Covid-19 pandemic, which has registered a drop of 80% and 60% in the case of hospitalizations.

For this reason, they indicate, and after the measures adopted by the Government to contain the spread of the virus, they have only specified urgent care, or that cannot be postponed beyond three months.

In that scenario, they announced that will benefit from the Employment Protection Law, thus suspending contracts to 30% of its workers. With this, they also stated that they should reduce salaries.

UC Christus details that 35% of its staff, whose remuneration is over a million pesos, must reduce your salary between 10% and 30%, depending on the amount they receive.

Furthermore, they state that another 35% of its collaborators will not see an impact on their remuneration, either because their salaries are less than a million pesos, or because they are related to the care of patients with Covid-19 who are hospitalized.

In turn, they explained that, despite these drastic measures, will maintain the payment of labor and pension contributions for the total of the remuneration, the payment of the complementary and catastrophic medical insurance, the agreements of health benefits, and the payment of loans and medical attention will be extended.

These measures will come into operation from May 1 and they are expected to last for at least three months, “with the idea of shortening the terms if the activity and income improve.”
