This Saturday, after the program “Places that talk”, Channel 13 will premiere “Helga and Flora”, a series starring Amalia Kassai, Catalina Saavedra and Alejandro Sieveking, and winner of the CNTV funds in 2016.
The production, directed by Christian Aspèe, tells the story of Helga Gunkel (Amalia Kassai) and Flora Gutiérrez (Catalina Saavedra), the first women of the Chilean tax police. In the first episode, both are sent on their first mission to travel to Kerren, a town located in the extreme south of our country, to investigate the theft of a fine blood horse owned by Don Raymond Gamper (Alejandro Sieveking). Raymond is a powerful rancher of German origin.
Although it seems an apparently simple case, this will be the beginning of an uncovering of other crimes that the people prefer to ignore.
In the cast there is also the young actress Geraldine Neary, known for her roles in Matriarchs (TVN) and Preciosas (channel 13), who revealed some details of her new role. This is “Eduvigis”, an introverted employee who works at the Nuble hotel in the heart of Tierra del Fuego and who has Llancaqueo (Tiago Corres) as a romantic interest.
“Eduvigis is a very different character from anyone he has ever done before. It is from another era and another cultural history. I think he is a fascinating character, which identifies me for being a fusion / mix of cultures. Eduvigis must adapt to live, at the same time that he must resist so that his culture of origin and his ancestors remain, ”explained Geraldine. “The indigenous culture massacred by the western is the tragedy experienced by this character, who suffers many contradictions, for being born in this historical context so unfair to some,” he added.
The actress confesses that to prepare this character she had to study what happened at the time. “(I studied) how the colonizers usurped the land with weapons and abuse. (I had to) understand how submissive silence is a form of resistance, but not of absolute submission. Revenge is imminent. karma, “he noted.
Neary indicated that he immediately accepted the role because the story seemed very interesting to him.“It is innovative and necessary because of the contingency and the feminist revolution. I think it is an important series that will teach us something of our historical past. Where we come from, where our culture comes from. It is something that will help us to change what is wrong. It seemed like an important story, so I happily accepted the challenge, ”he said.
In addition, he said that it was a pleasure to record in the south, but at the same time a great challenge for production. “What I liked the most was working with this team, jumping into the challenge, enjoying the scenery, learning and playing history,” he said.
Finally, the actress invited to watch the series because “it is a good quality story, with relevant dramatic content, with a revolutionary point of view and with a high technical and artistic level.”
